Derivation of Design Rainfall Temporal Patterns in Australia's Gold Coast Region

چکیده
Design of water infrastructures requires estimation of design flow which is the runoff that an infrastructure can handle safely. For estimation of this design flow, rainfallrunoff modelling is widely adopted. Temporal pattern (the distribution of rainfall depths over sub-storm durations) is considered to be one of the most critical input variables in the rainfall-runoff modelling. Design temporal pattern can affect the design runoff hydrograph significantly. The currently recommended design rainfall temporal patterns in Australia were derived in 1987 using the data before 1986. Due to climate change, it is expected that the design rainfall characteristics have been changed, thus making the application of currently recommended design rainfall temporal patterns in Australia questionable. This paper examines data from 22 pluviograph stations in the Gold Coast region to assess the time-trend of temporal patterns in this region. This considers design rainfall temporal patterns from 10 minutes to 120 hours storm durations. It has been found that there are significant changes in temporal patterns in recent years which may have notable implication in the design of water infrastructures in the study region. The results indicate that the design rainfall temporal patterns in Australia needs up-gradation to reflect the effects of current climate change to make the water infrastructures safer.

Study of the relation between NCPI and CACO indices with autumn precipitation of Southern Coast of Caspian Sea
In this research, the relationship between NCPI and CACO indices with autumn precipitation of Southern Coast of Caspian Sea (SCCS) was investigated. In this regard, two sets of data were used (Aphrodite and Station). And the days with more rainfall than long-term average rainfall station and on condition that the rainfall is more than 70% of the region rainfall, were chosen as a day of widespre...

INTRODUCTION The Frank Street catchment is an urbanised area on the Gold Coast located between Loders Creek and Biggera Creek, and drains directly to the Southport Broadwater. It has long been recognised that the capacity of drainage systems in the Frank Street area is minimal, primarily due to the aging drainage infrastructure. Most of the drainage systems were constructed prior to 1987 (when ...

Investigating the variability of the spatial-temporal pattern of rainfall, which can lead to climate change, due to its strong impact, is of interest to various scientists. For this purpose, after receiving the daily precipitation data of 27 stations for the period of 60 years (2010-1951), its quality and the total monthly precipitation and statistics necessary for the continuation of the resea...
